Youth Sunday School Curriculum- Discussion
For a long time, when I taught youth Sunday School curriculum I had this crazy idea that it was all about my teaching. Therefore, if I was given an hour then I would make sure to speak for an hour. While I am sure some knowledge was passed along and I hope some impact was made, I have now found that this is not the best teaching practice. As a teacher of a Sunday School class or bible study group our goal should not be to show off our knowledge and teaching skill. While these things are important they alone are not what is going to make the time we have with our students the most effective it can be. Instead our goal should be to open up discussion. Then from there we will be able to hear our students hearts, their questions and their struggles. Then with that knowledge we can use our gifts and knowledge to speak truth into their lives and bring scripture to life for them. This type of model and practice will revolutionize your time with your small group and will make a lasting impact on your students.
